DIET

“The Taxi Yoga Diet”

NO SUGAR

Cab drivers are sitting for 12 hours a day and have little activity so it is recommended to eat a “low calorie” diet.  This means drinking NO sugary beverages like canned soda or even diet soda!!  If the the driver drinks tea or coffee there should be little to NO sugar in the drink.

OK SUGAR

The only sugar consumed should be “fruit sugar” which is the sugar found in fruits.

WHY SUGAR IS BAD

Refined sugar and sweeteners (like corn syrup) increase the energy in foods but when the cab driver is sitting all day this extra energy has no where to go.  This extra energy i.e “caloric intake” is the leading cause of obesity and diabetes which are major health problems.

NO FRIED FOOD OR FAST FOOD

Fried food, fast food, and “baked goods” are not natural and may cause various health problems.  They are high in cholesterol and can possibly lead to heart problems.

BEST TO EAT FRESH VEGIES, FRUIT, AND WHOLE GRAINS

Try to eat fruit or oatmeal in mornings, and vegetables with grains for lunch and dinner.

LESS MEAT AND DAIRY

Generally, less meat and dairy is good to lower cholesterol and reduce the chances of heart problems.

TRADITIONAL FOOD IS BEST

Generally speaking, traditional foods and diets have worked for hundreds of years.  So continue eating and supporting traditional practices… bring your own lunch!!  Nothing is healthier or cheaper than a home cooked meal.  Some full time drivers save a whopping 50$ per week just by bringing their own lunch or dinner… that is 200$/month or 2400$/year!!  Combine this with exercise and taxi yoga during or after work and it is the best for health and longevity!

DRINK EXTRA WATER!!

Most cab drivers do not drink enough water.  They think that if they drink too much they will have to stop and use the bathroom thus losing valuable time and money.  This is crazy!  Some cab drivers go all day without drinking water and what liquids they do drink are sodas, teas, coffees, snapples, gatoraid, fake fruit juices, and vitamin waters filled with sugar.  This is why cab drivers suffer from kidney failure.  If you sit all day then you need to drink extra water.  The human body is designed to move and walk which pumps the organs in the body and naturally flushes out the kidneys.  Cab drivers sit all day so this pumping action does not occur, instead of drinking less water, drivers need to drink more water and go to the bathroom more often to stay healthy.
